Just wondering....

Is there any info. out there ("expert opinion" or just personal experience) about how long a glow jig "glows" after giving a shot of light from the lantern. I'm sure it may vary a little from one company to the next or on how bright your light source is, but just curious. I think I usually bring mine up every 4-5 minutes when fishing near / during dark to give it a "charge", but don't know if that's often enough or maybe overdoing it.

Light them up at home and watch... Different companies have more or less phosphorus in the jigs... ( Personally I have found that Jammin Jigs and Mad Dog Lures) Glow best then northland products.. Good fishin...<')(((((< Laughing Out Loud

I check mine about every couple miniuts & usualy need to be recharged. I use an old flash camera to charge mine quick & works good. I don't have alight on in my shack most of the time so thats why I use the camera. Wink

Each color has a different glow time also. Red being the shortest.

For the super-glo/techni-glo colors Red is the brightest but shortest burn time, green/chartreuse the second brightest and middle of the road for duration, and blue is the dullest but longest lasting. A good charge on those glows with a LED light or camera flash will have them glowing for up to 5min (depending on which color). I never let them sit for 5min without recharging. For the older common glows I figure like 2min.

I love glow jigs--but I would suggest anyone who uses them get one of those small LED lights to charge them. I keep a lanyard around my neck while fishing that has an LED light, nail clippers for trimming line, forceps for unhooking fish and a jig eye cleaner--works great and they are always handy.

I was just saying that I need to get some glowing jigs, as we tend to stay out till after dark sometimes...

What kind of luck has anyone had after dark? Is there anything to it that a lantern's light will draw curious fish to it? or are we wasting our time?

Great White, I was going to patent that Combination of fishing tools and make a ton of money Mr. Green . Oh well, back to the drawing board.

On my last trip to Corneilia I noticed that I had fish investigating my jig after I charged my glo-jig but they backed off after several minutes when the glow subsided. But I have noticed at other times and places where it did'nt seem to make a difference. As always with fishing, be adaptable and give the fish what they want.

I have found the blue LED light puts a better "charge" on my glow jigs.

I carry a couple old 110 cameras to charge up my glow jigs. They are flat and the flash works very well. There are several products on the market that you can also buy for the same purpose. They use the blue light like some of the other guys have mentioned and range in price from about 5 bucks up to 15 bucks. Have never used anything but cameras tho so I can't compare to the "Tazers." Hope this helps.
