Saw 12 does this morning. Actually at the kitchen table right now looking out into the back yard and have four of them laying down about 50 yards from the house. They will get shot tomorrow. I am still hopeful for a buck today.

well I'll be hunting second season, but saw some hunters driving some woods near by that I can also hunt, well they came driving by with a buck in the back of the trailer, I recognized the deer, it was a 6 1/2 year old 8 point not huge but had I quit the history with him, watched him for 3 seasons. Kinda bummed : (

Three of us hit it hard today. Set up before sunset and didn't even see my first deer till about 11:00. Son and brother both saw more but neither had
a decent shot. Very little shooting in our area too and only saw one other group on the drive home. Locals at the grill said most in the area are hunting
2nd season. That wind was nasty!

We have 7 hunters in our group. Pushed 3 places before lunch for a total of 6 deer....pushed one more place after lunch and got one more. We burned up a few landowner tags , so we're gonna do one more drive first thing Sunday and start cutting and packing. All in all, a good day.....and my legs are killing me....I walked all but the last drive..... Cry

L8r,
Eric

Edit: We had a visit from our local DNR officer while we were skinning deer this afternoon....all is good..... Cool

I saw 2 bucks and 5 does today. Let them all walk. I'm waiting for something special. Got 3 in the freezer from first muzzleloader anyway.

I hunt 2nd season but had something pretty interesting happen today. I took my 2 year old son out this morning to look for deer and maybe a coyote. Well about 10:00 he starts throwing up in my truck. So we beat feet home and I got the big chunks knocked off and let mom take over. Get back in the truck and start backing out my driveway, in town mind you, and I saw something run through my yard out of the corner of my eye. Did not think to much of it but got to the end of the block and there is a little spike buck with a big hole in his side. Had meat and fat hanging out of it but he was still moving pretty good. Found out at lunch time they chased him all the way through town. Broke a window on Main St. Just wondering what the papers will say about it next week.

Anyhow hope you all had a safe hunt. Save a few for us second seasoners

We've got deer behind my house in Greene but I've never seen one running through town with hole in him! Did they end up getting the deer on the other side of town?

I ended up not pulling the trigger today. Went out this afternoon also and just saw does. My brother and his group had better luck. Here is the pile of deer he shot today. His group has around 30 tags. Sorry the pic is so small but he sent it to me via his cell phone.

We shot two does out of four guys.We sat the first 4 hours with very little movement. I was amazed by the few number of guys we saw out today. We also heard very few shots other than first and last light. I don't know if more guys are just sitting versus pushing. We pushed a couple draws and saw a couple monster bucks, but we never had a clear shot.

Ended up with 2 big body bucks, a 7 pointer and a 9 pointer, a button, and a big doe. Already had 2 in the freezer from bow season, and my brother-in-law just goes for the hunt. So I gave the big doe to my old niegbor from back home, he shot 2 little ones today. Guess I'm done till next year.
Good luck all, and keep it safe.
