The temps hit 38 by noon here. I was on the water by 1pm.

Stream temp 38 at 2pm

Caught this micro on the first cast.

All trout were in slow water.

I met Chris Young at the local Kwik Trip. My wife was the chauffeur this outing. Chris parked upstream and my wife dropped us off downstream. She questioned why I had her drive us. I explained to her that it was a special spot and as of late there has been some hijackers of my fishing places. My license plate of my vehicle had been attracting other anglers like flies to honey in the last couple years.

Ha! You are kinda famous in these here parts, Len.

BTW I saw your presentation at the Madison Outdoors Show about 5 or 6 years ago. Didn't want it to end!

Are you still doing that?

Wanted to get out while streams were still in good shape.

Hard to find a fishing partner on a weekday.

Was fishing close to the road today because I was flying solo. The wife gets nervous when I go alone and wants me close to the vehicle.

Robins egg blue skies. I fought with going or not and the warm weather coaxed me out of the house.

Was 58 degrees and water was 46 degrees and crystal clear.

Lots of swipes but not hits. I knew with the bright sun the fish would be in cover or broken water.

24 browns to hand. Mostly micros.

Did add a written comment in log book Wink

I recently picked up southern Wisconsin for my sales territory. I went to school at Luther and have fished every stream in the area except 3 closer to Dubuque. What is the biggest difference between Iowa streams and the Wisconsin side of things? Access? Bigger? I have no clue.

I follow a lot of Len's post and the difference that sticks out to me is they have bigger fish.

Good to hear, might be worth getting a license in Wisconsin. Or at least a trout stamp, I usually fish in Wisconsin once a year at The Alma fishing float atleast once so might as well add a trout stamp on. Nothing beats Decorah for me but I like to move around. Anyone else confirm this? Do they stock like Iowa or stock larger fish?

Dan drove down to be my net man after the big trout I discovered a couple days ago. He was pleasantly surprised when I told him I would let him fish for it first. He tied on a new 3X leader and tied on a size 8 green turd.

First cast he caught this little one.

I target water far away from bridges and fish below designated trout water.

I asked four people to go with me. It was a last minute thing so everyone had plans. I did talk my good friend Kevin Rott into following me to my ending spot where I parked and he taxied to my starting point.

It was the warmest day of the year so far *73*. It was mostly cloudy. The water temp was 60. I expected a good outing and wasn't disappointed.
